AMERICAN SOYBEAN ASSOCIATION - INTERNATIONAL MARKETING IN  SAARC REGION

Who We are

The American Soybean Association – International Marketing (ASA-IM) is a worldwide entity that conducts activities through a global network of international offices to create and sustain demand for U.S. soybeans and soybean products.

ASA-IM is overseen by a Board of Directors that is comprised of seven members representing the American Soybean Association, seven members representing the United Soybean Board and its soybean check-off, and five members representing trade, allied industry, and state organizations.  Collectively, this organization is referred to and registered in the countries of south Asia as the United States Soybean Export Council, Inc (USSEC).  The soybean promotion activities of ASA-IM are made possible by producer check-off dollars invested by the United Soybean Board and various State Soybean Councils, by support from cooperating industry, and through the American Soybean Association's investment of cost-share funding provided by USDA's Foreign Agriculture Service.

What We Do Worldwide

The worldwide headquarters of the ASA-IM is in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.  ASA-IM has nine overseas offices with affiliate operations in over 90 countries.

In key markets and targeted industries worldwide, ASA-IM conducts marketing activities and provides technical assistance throughout the global soybean value chain. This is achieved by:

  • Providing technical assistance to primary soybean processors making them more efficient and profitable and increasing demand for their products and consumption of U.S. soybeans.
  • Assisting primary processors of soybeans in marketing their soybean meal to livestock, poultry and aquaculture producers.
  • Creating demand and increasing consumption of soybean meal by demonstrating to livestock, poultry and aquaculture producers the efficiency and benefits of increasing soy inclusion in feed rations.
  • Increasing consumption of soybean oil by educating institutional and food processing buyers on the benefits of using soy oil.
  • Creating demand for value added and identity preserved soybeans by educating importers and processors on the capabilities and commitment of U.S. suppliers to meet their needs.
  • Increasing demand for soy food ingredients by demonstrating to food processors the benefits of soy flour and other value added protein products.
  • Sustaining demand for soy food products by educating influence makers world wide on the healthy benefits of consuming soy.
  • Tracking overseas policy and regulatory issues applicable to U.S. soy exports.
  • Identifying and addressing trade barriers to ensure the competitiveness of U.S. soybeans and soybean products.
