American Soybean Association-International Marketing

The United Soybean Board (USB) and the ASA-International Marketing have been working in Bangladesh since 2000 to promote the US market share of soybean products that come into the country.  In February 2004, an ASA-IM liaison office was formally established in Dhaka, with official registration in the country given by the Board of Investment, Government of Bangladesh (GOB). In 2005, the liaison office of the U. S. Soybean Export Council, Inc. obtained BOI registration. This liaison office has been working to develop business links between Bangladesh and the US soybean industry.

The Country

Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world with a population of 150 million. Total area is 55,598 square miles (143,998 square kilometers). The average annual income is only about US$ 599, but the economy is growing and there is considerable potential for increasing soybean and soybean products utilization…and U.S. sales.
